The BEx Connector and the SQL Connector of this release are based on a new framework on the Windows side.
That makes it possible to install the Windows part of the connectors for a new release without installing the corresponding SAP transports (however, in that case, new SAP functionality dependent on changes in the connector SAP code cannot be used).
The SAP code component of the connector software is backwards compatible to release 5.80 SR2 of the connector software. In that case, however, new functionality and bug fixes that are dependent on changes in the SAP code cannot be used. There is backward compatibility to the SAP code, so it is possible to install the new release of the connector on Windows without installing the corresponding SAP transports.
It is recommended that you always update both the SAP and Windows systems. Backwards compatibilityĪs a general rule, all components are recompiled for new releases. If there is a firewall between the connector and the SAP system, port 33nn has to be open (where nn = system number of the SAP system).
There is also an installation guide in PDF format available on the Qlik Download Site. The following table shows the current backwards compatibility of the components of the connector package: In that case, however, new functionality and bug fixes that are dependent on changes in the SAP code are not available. There is backwards compatibility to the SAP code, so it is possible for a SAP connector to be added, without also installing the corresponding SAP transports. When there is a new connector release, it is recommended that you always update the SAP transports. The connectors are installed and updated automatically. Some Qlik connectors for use with SAP NetWeaver are supported on Qlik Sense SaaS when using a valid Enterprise license. SAP connector installation on Qlik Sense SaaS The transports are imported into the SAP system using the SAP transport management system. Objects (such as ABAP programs, function modules, and dictionary objects) are distributed using data extraction transports, and roles are distributed using user profile transports. Roles can be copied or modified, and custom roles containing the necessary authorization objects can be used instead. Using the provided roles is not mandatory. The provided roles contain the necessary authorization objects, and can be checked by Qlik objects and by standard SAP objects. To use the connectors the SAP user ID needs to have a role assigned that includes authorization objects. After the objects have been imported in an SAP system, it is possible to import a deletion transport to remove them. All objects are unique and prefixed with the reserved name space /QTQVC/. These objects are stored in the package /QTQVC/QTDEV ( /QTQVC/QTDEV_BW for the BW, BEx, and InfoProvider connectors). When extracting data, the connectors use Qlik objects in the SAP system to communicate with the client. Note: The SAP SQL connector is not available on Qlik Sense Business.
